About the Founder

Ashok Reddy, a bachelor in computer science and an MBA from the Indian School of Business has several roles to his credit including that of an entrepreneur. He is the CEO & founder of GrabOn.in and has been associated with several brands before building India’s biggest coupon search space for online buffs. He gained crucial experience as founder & president of Landmark IT Solutions and CTO at SmartTouch Interactive.

Ashok shares his experience of building GrabOn from scratch, without any seed fundings. The exceptional growth of the company has made them collaborate with every known brand in the e-commerce space like Paytm, Swiggy, OYO, Myntra, Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

According to Ashok, India has evolved a lot when it comes to purchasing online. Everyone does the complete analysis of the product on the affiliate platforms from specifications to reviews to comparisons, and ultimately buying the product. GrabOn evolved as a product research platform.

“We started building BUZZ, a realtime platform mobile push notifications application in 2015. But, as we moved further, we realized, it’d be better to use the existing platforms that serve push notifications, which would not deviate us from our road map”, says Ashok Reddy, founder, GrabOn. The platform is currently using Truepush push notifications to engage their millions of monthly website visitors.  

How much do GrabOn and other similar platforms contribute to Indian Ecommerce Industry?

I would say we contribute a lot as we come from that background, In general, we contribute a lot to tier 2 tier 3 merchants compared to tier 1 merchants. But the performance marketing as space is growing and marketing heads are realizing what publishers like us can do to their brands and sales. We have some great success stories for merchants like Myntra, Jabong, Nyka, Medlife, etc that fall under tier 2 category. We worked very closely with them, I was even told by some of their CMOS that our ROI has helped them get better results than the traditional marketing.”

What are the effects of COVID-19 on your business and how are you keeping the impact as minimal as possible?

Frankly, our business has been impacted the most, with literally no travel and eCommerce. As everything got stalled and there was about a 95% dip in the revenues. We are slowly picking up as the eCommerce has opened up and we are expecting it to reach the highest number by the time of Diwali which is usually the shopping time. And luckily, we started building SAAS marketing intelligence tool for our merchants, just started  before COVID-19 so the majority of our focus has been there, there is no pivot that we’ve done but we are focusing on this more.”
